What is lupus (SLE)?
Imagine your immune system getting over-active and instead of protecting you, it attacks you. There are good days, bad days and really bad days. You'll never know.

Breaking Out in Hives

Late-2003.
Usually when the weather gets wet and a little mild - I'd break out in hives.
Serious hives that would have me scratching for days.
It comes and goes. My mom has it too.
Like mother like daughter (although I'm very 'far' different from her 24" waist at my age!)

It was Oct-2003 when I started breaking out in hives (again)
This time, it was all over my face, neck! It started building up at 6 pm, go on till the next morning 9 am!
To the dermatologist I went.

As usual, doctors will ALWAYS say - you must be allergic to something.
I said, no, it is the weather, most doctor will laugh it off.
"YOU MUST BE ALLERGIC TO SOMETHING!"

Well, it was 2003, awareness on "auto-immune" conditions were lacking. Internet was slow.
I believe, what I had was "Autoimmune Urticaria", symptoms of my abnormal autoimmune activity, often overlooked by many doctors. I was usually prescribed with Piriton, which provided little relief.
